Land Navigation is a skill anyone can learn, young or old, and with practice, it becomes second nature. After completing this course, you can continue practicing on your own!

What You’ll Learn:

• Map reading & point plotting
• Pace counts
• True north vs. magnetic north
• Route selection
• Identifying terrain features & terrain association
• Dead reckoning

What to Expect:

• 1 hour of classroom instruction to cover the basics
• Hands-on practical exercises to build confidence and skills
• Final test-out: You’ll navigate and find 5 points on your own

Be prepared to cover approximately 5 miles on foot over steep, uneven terrain. Wear appropriate clothing and ensure you’re in decent physical shape to reduce the risk of injury.
